July 19, 2011 – Guilt gone !

Funny how a good night’s sleep will make you forget how terribly guilty you were yesterday in the fabric store!  Phew…. I sure feel better.  It’s all perfectly folded really pretty and placed in it’s room ever so neatly like it was never there.  How is that for self-justification?  LOL…. Hubby and I sat in our swing that hangs in our outdoor screened-in room – can’t forget the glass of wine in hand while listening to a wonderful, most needed rain storm.  It smelled so fresh and sweet.  Seven male deer even enjoyed a cool drink from their water tub that we keep full for them.  Just like a Hallmark card !!  Waiting to hear from several guilds for teaching next year.  Hoping it is good news !  Wish me luck!

July 18, 2011 – Been a very, very bad girl – Ouch !

Went on a two-day shop hop yesterday and day before (Saturday and Sunday) and yes, you already know what I’m going to say!  I was very, very, very bad and then very bad again.  Six quilt shops later and at least 30 yards of fabric.  Everything I saw just screamed at me from the colorful shelving units in the stores.  Oh my…. the fabric manufacturers get better and better at seducing us into fabric oblivion……. I know….. I’ve been to oblivion many times…  LOL…….. better start making more teaching samples.. beautiful color, glorious color.  Love it to pieces !!  What can I say?   On another note, working on some new teaching jobs and trips I’ll be taking that are truly wonderful. I can’t wait until next year to share my easy techniques to lots of new quilting friends ! Good night.  :-0)

July 13, 2011 – Getting Even !!

Here is my funny for the day….Once upon a time in my former life, I was married to a very, very macho full-time Assistant Fire Chief. He loved to use me for the brunt of his jokes… until one late night, I got the last laugh. He was lying on the sofa sound asleep, legs crossed.. I tip-toed over and very carefully pulled off the socks one at a time. He never blinked an eye. I went for my brightest red nail polish and I……. well, you guessed it. First one foot painted, then tickled his foot and he crossed his feet. Perfect! I painted the other foot.. LMAO.. That night, he went to bed in our hot pink-clad bedroom (back in the late 60s) never noticing a thing. In the morning, when he got up to go to work, the whole room cast a pink color. He reached down and put on his socks, totally oblivious to the fact that his toenails were painted red. I thought I would die laughing. Firemen work on one day and off two days off with a bunch of other macho firemen. I called his work and told his best friend at work to have him take off his shoes and socks… He said, “why the hell should I do that?” He went ahead and did it and to his total embarrassment, the entire crew of firemen laughed their butts off. Cruel you say…….NOT.

July 11, 2011

Can’t even believe that it’s going on the middle of July…time just flies out the window these days, but……..seems like every day, something wonderful is happening and I’m in awe of the blessings that God has given me just when I needed him the most.  The friends closest to me know what I’m talking about and all I can say is that “it isn’t materially.”  I don’t know what I did to deserve all this, but I am truly grateful.  I’ve talked to some wonderfully generous people, made some fabulous plans for the next couple of years and am totally thrilled!  I just needed to share that with all of you that read my posts.  Love all of you bunches… P

July 9, 2011

Today was a great day!  My wonderful friend, Carolyn, her daughter Jennifer and Jennifer’s tiny little 16-month-old daughter Lauren Melissa came over for a sew day.  Carolyn brought over her beautiful “Belles” quilt that she has hand appliqued and  is finishing it off with hand quilted with numerous colors of metallic threads.  It is a labor of love – 5 years’ worth!   It’s really beautiful…. as beautiful as she is..  Daughter Jen finished a cross stitch she’s been working on for a long time for her little girl’s room.  Me ?  I was busy cutting out a new pattern for “Free-Form Symmetry”.

July 6, 2011

I have stayed up way too late tonight learning how to work with my website… so many little tricks you have to know.  Little by little it’s coming, but slow going.  Didn’t do any quilting tonight.  Not a lot to report… Zoe, my kitty cat is getting really upset that we aren’t going to bed and she rules, so nite-nite…!

July 4, 2011

Wow! The 4th of July.  Time passes so quickly these days.  I hope all of you reading this had a wonderful, most likely 3-day weekend.  I know I did.  I spent all day in my studio writing supply lists for classes and working on yet another new sample.  Every time I walk into my fabric room, I envision 10 more+ things I want to make.  It truly is a room full of inspiration.  So, when you feel uninspired, don’t just walk through that stash room of yours with your eyes closed.  Instead, open them wide and scan the shelves.  Check them out.  Something will certainly pop out at you and instead of just leaving it where you found it, pick it up and carry it to your sewing machine and it will definitely give you the desire to quilt.  It does it for me every time.

July 2, 2011

Well, I did it again.  I dropped off a couple of  samples to a local quilt shop to show before teaching there in October.  Things went really well until I…..well, you guessed it – - – - – - bought MORE FABRIC and my 14th pair of scissors!!!  I think I need to open my own store.  Help !!  Is there such thing as a fabric shrink?  Let me know, will you?

June 28, 2011

Found out today that I will be teaching in 2013 in beautiful Fiji at Paradise Courses – Holiday Study Retreat !  We will be quilting to our heart’s content.  More details to come as things are organized.  Please stay tuned.  Can you say EXCITED ???

June 25, 2011

Was a very bad girl today. Went to the local quilt shop and bought 10 yards of fabric to add to my never-ending piles !  OMG. Gosh, I’m so weak.  Maybe I need QA aka “Quilters Anonymous.”  Help!!!  Not only that, went to Hobby Lobby with friends and bought embellishments for said fabric stash. Tomorrow, will work on more class samples and get some of them quilted (my favorite part !)  Good night all.

June 24, 2011
